Border-Gavaskar Trophy: Starc and Hazlewood Dominate as India Crumbles for 150 in Perth

Australia took complete control on Day 1 of the second Test in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy with Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood going for a killish bowling performance, as India was bundled out for just 150 runs at the Perth Stadium. Australian pacers, exploiting the pace and bounce on offer to perfection, gave their side an upper hand very early in the game.

Starc took the attack with four crucial wickets, while Hazlewood’s precision earned him three dismissals, including the prized scalp of Virat Kohli. The duo dismantled India’s batting lineup without allowing any elbow room for the visitors to mount a formidable total.

India Fails with the Bat
Indian innings lacked partnerships, with the top and middle order handing over to Australia’s attacking pace. Skipper Virat Kohli was the lone warrior, contributing a gritty 45 runs before being dismissed to Hazlewood. Lower-order cameos from Mohammed Shami and Ravichandran Ashwin added 30 runs, but it wasn’t enough to push India to a competitive score.

Australia Off to a Strong Start
In response, Australia’s openers navigated the remaining overs of the day safely, closing at 25/0. With all 10 wickets in hand and with the favorable batting track, Australia is well set for building up an important lead on Day 2.

What to Expect Now?
If the bowlers from India do not do much better than this, it would be really difficult for them to claw their way back into the match. However, Australia will look to build on their lead and tighten their grip on this Border-Gavaskar Trophy encounter.
