In what happened at an unearthly hour yesterday morning, a magnitude 3.5 earthquake in the Uttarkashi district in the hill state of Uttarakhand left behind short-term panic amid its residents even though there are no reports so far of injury or damage caused to property as the situation here remains closely being monitored by the local authorities which has advised everyone present there to be all alert and watch for all kinds of after-shocks too.
A seismically active zone, Uttarkashi has been experiencing frequent minor quakes; this makes it more important to keep re-sensitising and preparing for disasters.
