PM Modi to Distribute 58 Lakh Property Cards Under Swamitva Yojana

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to distribute 58 lakh property cards to the rural people under the Swamitva Yojana, a flagship programme of digitizing the rural property records. Launched in 2020, the programme aims at empowering villagers with official ownership documents of their properties and bringing more transparency in the reduction of land disputes.

Enabling Digitisation in Rural India The Swamitva Yojana enables drone survey and geographical mapping of rural areas to measure lands accurately for the making of error-free property record. There will be a property card for which such beneficiary can go to raise loans, and resolve legal disputes or protection of the title and lands so measured.

An Indicator of Rural Progress
Speaking about the scheme, PM Modi emphasized its transformative potential, saying, “This is a very important milestone in empowering rural India towards ease of living.” About 58 lakh families will directly benefit from the distribution of the property cards, ensuring security and independence for them.

Progress and Expansion
The scheme has already been rolled out in several states and is to be extended to all the rural areas in the country in the next few years. This project is aligned with the broader vision of the government of modernizing land governance and promoting inclusive growth in rural India.

The Swamitva Yojana is an important step toward harnessing technology for rural development and a self-reliant Bharat.
