IPL 2025 Auction: Complete Sold Out List and Costliest Bids

The highly anticipated IPL 2025 mega auction took place on November 24 and 25, 2024, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and the day turned out to be a record day for the league. The ten franchises finished filling up their teams from the auction, and the bidding also turned out to be a record one as biggest stars signed multi-crore deals. 1,574 players were in the auction, and 574 players remained to be auctioned in the remaining rounds of bids.

Record-Breaking Deals

Wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant was the costliest IPL player, for whom Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) inked a record ₹27 crore deal. Indian star batter Shreyas Iyer was acquired by Punjab Kings (PBKS) for ₹26.75 crore in recent past second.

Most Expensive Players Drafted in IPL 2025 Auction

  • Jos Buttler (England) – ₹15.75 crore by Gujarat Titans (GT)
  • Mitchell Starc (Australia) – ₹11.80 crore from Delhi Capitals (DC)
  • Andre Russell (West Indies) – ₹12.50 crore from Mumbai Indians (MI)
  • Kagiso Rabada (South Africa) – ₹13.20 crore to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)
  • David Warner (Australia) – ₹9.80 crore to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)

Future Young Stars

Greatest casualty of bids for shock was 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, youngest retained player in the IPL history. Rajasthan Royals (RR) retained him on behalf of ₹1.1 crore**, who are one to look out for the next few years.

  • Punjab Kings (PBKS) had biggest purse of ₹112 crore to utilize, and this lured them into a splurge of money, including their record acquisition of Shreyas Iyer.
  • Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have spent the bulk of their purse in recruiting Rishabh Pant, their new captain as well.
  • Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have tried to beef up their spin bowling by recruiting quality bowlers for next season.

Total Spending and Team Overhauls

182 players were registered for the two-day auction, 62 foreign cricketers, on which franchises collectively spent an amount of ₹639.15 crore altogether. The mega auction has been a success in reshaping team rosters with the positive expectation of an IPL 2025 season.
