As India bid farewell to 2024 and welcomed the new year, quick-commerce platform Blinkit experienced a record-breaking surge in demand. The platform revealed intriguing insights into the most ordered items on December 31, reflecting the celebratory and practical needs of partygoers across the country.
According to Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa, the platform delivered:
1,22,356 packs of condoms
45,531 bottles of mineral water
22,322 PartySmart tablets (popular for preventing hangovers)
2,434 packets of Eno (an antacid for quick relief from overeating or drinking)
Dhindsa humorously questioned if these were part of the “after-party prep,” highlighting how essential items played a role in New Year’s Eve celebrations.
The data not only showcases Blinkit’s efficiency in handling peak demand but also provides a lighthearted perspective on how Indians prepared for and managed the revelry. From responsible partying to ensuring post-party recovery, the trends underline a mix of fun and practicality during the country’s biggest year-end celebrations.
