A new app called the “Death Clock” has made a statement that it can predict just when exactly you are going to die. This new application creates an unusually precise estimate of how long one will live by using information about your life, choice of lifestyle, and the metrics of health.
How It Works
The app collects age, weight, exercise routines, diet, even stress levels and feeds that information into algorithms trained on medical studies and mortality statistics. It uses this to predict the life expectancy of the user but not medically certified. Developers are saying it is more of a wake-up call for making healthier choices.
Critics argue that it makes life events, genetics, and other random incidents less complicated and easier to predict. Most incidents in life, genetics, and random occurrences cannot be predicted. It is said, however, to motivate individuals to take care of their health and wellness.
The Ethical Debate
The ethical question that such “Death Clock” apps raise has also been there. Will it increase anxiety among these people? Or does this bring out a new way of practicing healthy and proactive behavior?
As the interest continues to grow, here’s the app reminding one again about the increasing role that AI plays in very private aspects of our lives; it all depends upon whether the user takes to it as a helpful nudge or as an unsettling gimmick.
