With their retained list, Royal Challengers Bangalore have retained three of the most important players before the Mega Auction of IPL 2025, with a massive ₹83 crore budget left to fill the remaining slots.
Retained Players:
Virat Kohli (₹21 crore):
The franchise icon and batting legend continues to lead the charge for RCB. Kohli’s exceptional IPL 2024 season, where he claimed the Orange Cap with 741 runs, solidified his retention as an automatic choice. His presence remains crucial for RCB’s quest for their maiden IPL title.
Rajat Patidar (₹11 crore):
One of the standout performers of the last two seasons, Patidar was brilliant in the IPL 2024, scoring 395 runs at a mind-boggling strike rate of 177.13. His run-a-ball middle-order shows have seen him get a place in the RCB batting lineup for the long term.
Yash Dayal (₹5 crore):
He was appointed the OBO lead left-arm pacer in RCB and thereby led his team to the playoffs of IPL 2024. Dayal had taken 15 wickets in 14 matches and was a consistent bowler for the team, which was a natural thing given he was retained.
Auction Strategy:
RCB comes into the 2025 auction with ₹83 crore and three Right to Match (RTM) cards. The franchise can utilize that to bring back some of the veteran pros like Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell to the side or begin scouting for new faces. The side will likely concentrate more on enhancing its balanced nature in an attempt to remain in all departments.
With a solid Indian core and offensive auction approach, RCB will be launching yet another attacking season in pursuit of its first ever IPL title.
