Rescue Efforts Underway
The snow avalanche hit in the high-altitude area near a construction site, covering dozens of workers with heavy snow. SDRF, NDRF, and local teams have been working around the clock to find and rescue the remaining workers trapped.
It was reported that bad weather and tough terrain slowed down the efforts, but authorities are optimistic to reach the last remaining workers within a short time.
Survivors’ Condition
The recovered workers have been given medical help and are said to be in stable condition. There are some who have experienced hypothermia and fatigue as a result of hours spent exposed to freezing cold weather. They are being kept under observation at a local medical center.
Government Response
The government of Uttarakhand has promised complete cooperation with the rescue operation. Chief Minister said that all required resources are being used to facilitate the safe removal of the remaining workers.
The government is also reviewing safety protocols at construction sites across the state to ensure such mishaps are avoided in the future.
What’s Next?
Rescue personnel are still conducting operations with state-of-the-art equipment and thermal imaging technology to locate any indications of life under the snow. Authorities are optimistic that all remaining trapped workers will be evacuated soon.
