Mumbai Indians (MI) resumed their resurgence in IPL 2025 with an authoritative 7-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Wednesday.
Chasing a target of 144, MI romped to 146/3 in a commanding 15.4 overs on the back of penetrative pace bowling and clinical run-scoring contributions which left the hosts with no hope of coming back.
SRH Struggle to Post a Competitive Total
Having won the toss and chosen to bat first, SRH couldn’t make use of the option. Trent Boult of Mumbai put paid to the chances with a searing spell that sent Hyderabad’s top order into a tizzy. In the middle, there were some shows of resistance but otherwise SRH mustered just 143/8 in their allotted 20 overs — a total way short of par on a very good batting surface.
Boult Shines with the Ball
Trent Boult, the veteran pacer, was the match-winning bowler with the ball, finishing on decent figures of 4/26. His early batting tore SRH’s top order to shreds and also fetched him the Player of the Match award.
Rohit, Suryakumar Seal the Chase
In reciprocation, MI openers began well and Rohit Sharma led the chase comfortably through a well-prepared 46 of 36 balls, flavored with eight fours and three sixes. Suryakumar Yadav added a blistering 36 not out*, and the day’s close was made easy for the visitors.
MI completed the chase in 15.4 overs, making their whole dominance over the match.
