Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) made a strong statement in their last league-stage game of IPL 2025 with a 33-run victory over Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh was the hero of the evening, whacking his first-ever IPL century in the form of a scorching 117 off only 64 deliveries. His innings, filled with clean hits and intelligent placement, held LSG firm at a record 235/2 from 20 overs. KL Rahul and Nicholas Pooran provided adequate support, chipping in with aggressive cameos to drive the innings ahead.
In response, Gujarat Titans began lamely and were quickly under scoreboard pressure. Though there was a courageous 57 off 29 deliveries from Shahrukh Khan and a late onslaught by Sherfane Rutherford (38 off 22), the Titans managed only 202/9 at the conclusion of their 20 overs.
GT’s middle order failed once again, revealing cracks before the playoffs. Bowling also seemed toothless against Marsh’s rampage. With this victory, LSG completed their season with a flourish, though their playoff destiny depends on other outcomes.
Marsh was adjudged Player of the Match for his impressive ton. “It’s special to finally get three figures in the IPL. The team needed it and I’m glad I could deliver,” he opined after the match.
