Punjab Kings Trample Lucknow Super Giants by 37 Runs in Thrash-High-Scoring IPL 2025 Match

Punjab Kings staged a superb all-round performance to thrash Lucknow Super Giants by 37 runs in a heart-stopping encounter at the picturesque HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala on Saturday. In this win, Punjab Kings not only gained valuable points on the IPL 2025 scoreboard but showed their growing dominance in the second half of the league as well.

Batting first after Punjab Kings won the toss, they piled up a gigantic 236 for 5 in 20 overs—their best score of the season. The platform was laid by in-form bat Prabhsimran Singh, who hammered an aggressive 91 off just 48 deliveries. His innings, peppered with clean hits and aggressive approach, kept the scoreboard ticking and left LSG bowlers scrambling for ideas.

Shreyas Iyer’s had a crucial supporting role to play, scoring 45 runs from 26 balls with finesse. Shashank Singh added the finishing touches, scoring a blazing 33* off just 14 balls to take Punjab beyond the 230-run mark.

Despite early breakthroughs, bowlers of Lucknow Super Giants couldn’t check the run flow. Akash Singh was the best of the bowlers for LSG, claiming 2/30, while Krunal Pandya and Ravi Bishnoi claimed a wicket each but were expensive in the death overs.

Lucknow Super Giants welcomed the challenge well, and captain KL Rahul started the day in style with his 42 from 24 balls. Punjab’s bowling unit shut the shop down when the momentum changed. Ayush Badoni fought hard with a fine 74 from 40 balls, keeping LSG in the game, but did not get steady support from the other end.

Arshdeep Singh was outstanding with the ball, taking 3 wickets for just 16 runs and dismantling the LSG middle order. Afghan all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai also excelled, taking 2 wickets and refusing to give anything away with tight lines.

LSG were reduced to 199 for 7 in 20 overs, 37 short. The defeat damaged Lucknow’s net run rate and prospects of a playoff berth, and Punjab Kings boosted theirs with a commanding win.

Player of the Match:
Prabhsimran Singh was the Player of the Match for his destructive 91, which laid the groundwork for Punjab’s formidable total.

With the tournament picking up momentum, Punjab Kings’ performance too seems hunky-dory, with both their batting top order and bowling attack striking the right chord at the right time.
