Delhi-Noida, December 3, 2024: Thousands of farmers from Uttar Pradesh and surrounding states are intensifying their protest at the Delhi-Noida border as they are stopped from marching into the national capital. The protest is led by organizations such as Bhartiya Kisan Parishad (BKP) and Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), which is demanding proper compensation for the government’s acquired land and employment.
- Protest Prevented: Police have turned back farmers who were on a march to Parliament, causing them to sit at Dalit Prerna Sthal.
- **Intimations of Heavy Security: These include barbed wire fencing, barricades, shipping containers, and surveillance drones.
- Traffic Alerted: The blockade has severely hit the traffic in the entire area, and authorities had issued advisories to the local commuters.
Farmers Demands
The protesting groups are demanding proper compensation for the government-acquired lands, employment guarantee, and implementation of recommendations from the Swaminathan Commission to ensure fair crop pricing.
As the situation is getting heated, the protesters have vowed to stay until their demands are met, coinciding with the Parliament’s Winter Session. The authorities have urged dialogue to resolve the situation peacefully.
